Digital Shikshapatri Project

Project overview

Digital Shikshapatri The OCHS, in collaboration with Oxford University's Indian Institute Library and Oxford University's Refugee Studies Centre, has received a grant of £105,000 from the New Opportunities Fund for digitisation of the Shikshapatri and the creation of a learning resource. The project is beginning by making images of the manuscript available over the internet.

Hindu Youth Festival 2001

OCHS Hindu Youth UKThe Hindu Youth Festival 2001, which was originally planned to promote awareness of the OCHS among young Hindus in Britain, turned into a ten-day festival and mela attracting 70,000 people. It was a great success.

With the support of the Hindu religious community and business leaders, Hindu youth were facilitated to explore issues of identity in Britain, as well as social, moral and political issues, and to become conscious of the need to plan their own future.

OCHS Research Programme

Oxford Centre for Hindu Studies researchThe OCHS research programme seeks to support well-defined research in all areas in the study of Hindu culture.

It encourages both collaborative and individual scholarship that leads to significant advances in the understanding of cultures associated with Hinduism, disseminating their findings through clearly defined outputs.
